Leah insisted that we go to one of the Hotspring Spas (Black Rock, I think) that line the river in downtown Truth or Consequences.
For $25 we get our own private sauna/hot tub/mineral bath room--for an hour:
First a shower...
...then a soak. Next a sauna...soak...sauna...soak. Felt pretty good, too, considering we'd been traveling without running (or hot) water in the trailer for about 2 weeks.
After the hot springs, we walked around town visiting thrift stores and taking pictures. Like a lot of western towns, Truth or Consequences has seen better days, but is now home to quite a few eccentric folks partial to bright colors.
Toward evening, we headed back to our campsite at Elephant Butte:
